Sportster Debbie Boots in Black
Given my propensity toward retro rebel culture and wearing pretty much nothing but boots myself, it was clear-like, presto!-from the moment we writers opened up the shoebox at one of our daily brainstorm meetings that this pair of boots would be my special project. With their buckled straps wrapping around the ankle, they reminded me of the engineer boots that motorcyclists wear. And when I think of motorcyclists, I think of one of my favorite biker flicks, The Loveless. It's a tale about a 1950's group of bikers heading south to the races in Daytona, and the gang includes a tough-as-nails tag-along they call "Sportster Debbie." I can imagine her donning these black, leather-like, round-toe boots and hopping on the back of her daddy-o's Harley. You don't have to ride a cycle to wear these, though. For a biker-chic look that's totally cool for just kicking around the city on a shopping excursion, you could tuck a pair of skinnies into the top of these heeled boots and rev up the look with a bomber jacket. Take this style full-throttle by accessorizing with some big hooped earrings and a boldly colored scarf, then gear up for an urban adventure that's totally jake! -Richard, Fashion Writer

they are comfortable, they are cute, they look like real leather. i want to buy them in brown too, theyre so awesome! also, i normally wear an 8.5, because i have wide feet. an 8W fits me perfectly, in fact (quack quack, i have duck feet!). i followed the advice of the composition/fit link, and ordered an 8. i have to admit, i was pretty nervous about it, because i didnt want to send these cool boots back. and.... i didnt have to. the 8's fit perfectly. im wearing them as i write this review. yay, thank you so much mod cloth, for selling totally tubular boots!
These boots are fantastic! I get compliments on them all the time and they're the perfect height to tuck your jeans into. The only problems are 1) the bottoms don't have much traction so watch out if it's slick outside! and 2) I've only had mine for a few months and wear them once a week or less, and already the heels have worn down significantly. These are great shoes, but I don't think they'll last me past this spring.
I just received the boots today and I've gotta say I'm disappointed. It has clearly been made poorly; the leather is made of cheap material and there is still GLUE and pieces of plastic hanging off of it. I bet I can find a pair similar to this in chinatown, or in China for that matter and not have to spend 60 dollars. (I am from there after all) The only reason why I am hesitant to return them is that I really like the style of these boots, and that I have no time to actually go hunt for a pair of cute black boots.
