Join the ranks of the truly fashionable in this on-trend cropped jacket from BB Dakota! As featured in InStyle magazine's August 2009 issue, this adorable, 100% cotton jacket is the perfect way to wear the military-chic trend. The olive-bronze, insignia-inspired embroidery on the bust, shoulders and cuffs evoke all the pomp and circumstance of a ceremonial honor guard, and the super sturdy, cloth-covered eye hook closures at the bust and feminine pleats at the back create a dramatically tailored look. A Mandarin collar with a slight opening at the front of the neck makes it perfect for layering over high-neck blouses or low-cut tees. Pair with sleek black jeans and and metallic heels, and everyone will be saluting your style!

I received this jacket today, and I'm a little undecided as to whether I love or hate it. It fits large (I bought a small, but could probably do with the extra small) and I'm 5'4", 116 pounds. You might not be able to tell from the picture, but it has big shoulder pads that made me look a bit top heavy. The waist is also quite big and the jacket is cropped so you'll need a long top underneath it. I'm also not sure if the colours suit me with dark brown hair and a pale complexion. I'll sleep on it and see how I feel about it in the morning... I may just be returning it for a smaller size. And in black.

With Balmainia hitting the streets, the recent death of the King of Pop, and Coldplay's re-invention of the look, everyone is scrambling for military-inspired jackets. BB Dakota's style of the jacket is chic and simplistic, sporting structured shoulder's and a fitted bodice. The off-white colour and the gold embroidery complement eachother perfectly. The beige colour is beautiful - everyone has black jackets already. This jacket will be perfect for fall and spring, but a bit too lightweight for winter. As far as the fit, at 5 feet, 90 pounds I ordered the XS. A little bit too large around the waist, but not noticeably. The sleeves could be slightly shorter, falling an inch or so past my wrist. Buy this jacket without hesitation!

This jacket is indeed deceptive in several ways from its picture. But in spite of it all, it's still awesome. Yep, the shoulder pads are much bigger than they look, but I removed them (albeit sloppily from the inside) and it's considerably better. And it is actually a light light grey instead of ivory as it says, but I actually prefer that. The sleeves are also very long and wide on me, but I'll tailor those in. However, when someone says your jacket makes you look like a Beatle, all is forgiven.
