Alert! Trench coat lovers like myself: this is THE coat we've been searching for! It is weightier than it looks in the pictures, but not too heavy... it has enough weight to give it a "coat" feel yet I know I'll be wearing it in colder weather as a layer! The inside is completely lined with shiny brown fabric, and there are cool details like a silver chain near the tag and a marbled buckle on the belt. The outer fabric is a smooth, crisp-patterned brown cotton, and the BEST part about this coat is the double-breasted, true-trench-styling but WITH THE FRILL! at the bottom... the coat could NEVER be mistaken for your dad's though it cerntainly can compete with his for Trench of the Year! One last thing, I am typically a size S/M in tops and an 8-10 in bottoms, dresses usually size 6-8, and I ordered the medium- GREAT "coat" fit (room for at least one layer beneath.)

This is a delightful coat, with a great pattern and a unique design that I simply adore. The belted waist combined with the slightly A-line bottom creates a beautifully classic hourglass shape that's difficult to truly create with trench coats. However, I ordered the XS and found it to be oversized. I am a 0 in most designer clothing -- a 23.5" waist, to be exact -- and that's how I expected this to fit, based on the measurements provided. It's quite baggy on me around the waist, in the arms, and on the shoulders (the hips being a bit baggy is no bother, because of the hourglass effect). Perhaps this discrepancy is based on the jacket manufacturer and it being intended for layering; however, I live in the Southwestern U.S. and don't need to layer underneath a trench during the winter months. The coat itself is such a rare find, though, that I plan to take it to a tailor and have it fitted properly... There's no way I'm sending it back!!

Mary pretty much said it all in her review-- this is a fantastic coat with lots of lovely features! My one and only disappointment is that it doesn't have any pockets...even though the product description says that it does. The hip pocket details really are just details, and the description should probably be updated to reflect this. Other than that, though, I absolutely love this coat-- especially the belted waist and ruffle at the bottom, which give it a nice feminine feel.
