I've coveted outerwear on ModCloth for the longest time ever since I discovered it, and finally for Valentine's Day a friend of mine gave me a gift certificate to spend! As I was shopping around, this trench caught my eye. The name is what gave it its flair, given that I had been considering graduate school for the past few months. I normally don't buy navy clothing, mainly because my skin is tan enough to not go with navy all that well, so I was taking a leap of faith buying this jacket. When it came in the mail today, I immediately tried it on and was VERY VERY pleased with how well it fit on me! I can find jeans only at a select few stores that hug my curves in a flattering way, and the same goes for jackets; especially types like these with no hood to distract you. The sleeves hugged my arms nicely, and maintained their shape. I was also convinced that the high-waist property of the jacket would be great, given that my hips are wide but my waist is small, and I was totally right! It accentuated my natural assets nicely, and made me look... well... like I was about to get a Master's! Something that the description doesn't tell you is that there is really cute green/pink/yellow funky trim lining the sleeve cuffs and back-shoulder flaps on the jacket (if you look really close at the backview, you'll know what I'm talking about) that give the navy color a lot of flair. So if you choose to wear it open, that subtle yet vibrant pattern will catch you! I also love the fact that the high-waist properties are still apparent with or without the buttons buttoned. The lapels flatten perfectly if you unbutton the coat all the way, giving you that classic 30s-40s trench look. I'm 5'3'', 125lbs and I got a medium for this. Definitely great for more hip-curvy but skinnier waisted women who want a jacket that makes you pay attention to the best parts, and make you look smart. :]

I have a large bust, a narrow waist, and full hips for my size, and it is difficult to find outerwear that works with my body. I bought this in the hopes that it would give a flattering, empire waist silhouette. It came. The color was wonderful and so rich; I was excited. I tried it on and it did not nip in at the waist; rather, it fell straight from the fullest part of my chest. I looked pregnant. The fit did not at all work for me. I returned it.
