Melinda, the other reviewer, said this very pretty 'From Russia with Love' coat runs a little small through the chest. Having just received my own coat in size small, I would definitely agree with her. I am a UK size 6/8, 5'6 and a 32B - quite small all over, really - and I can close the buttons on the chest, but I don't think I'll be able to pile on the layers to keep cozy during our annual, bleak, Scottish midwinter. The rest of the garment runs true to size (i.e. the coat is not too form-fitting around the waist and hips, leaving layering space), and I found the arm length was just perfect for me. The coat is fully lined and the 3.5 winter coat rating Modcloth gave the garnment is fair, in that you're going to need layers if you're wearing it on a very cold day, as the coat itself isn't going to keep you toasty. It is a beautiful coat, though. Over and above its timeless design - resistant to the fickleness of fashion - it is practical and versatile, and I just love the pintucking at the yoke and waist, which gives it a unique little detail that marks it out from all the other winter coats in the shops at the moment. All in all, I would say it was a great buy and worth the investment.
Definitely small through the chest. I decided not to keep this coat... I'm not sure if it was a mistake that the factory made or if it is a design flaw, but there's a huge gap at the waistline where there should be a button but isn't. There are buttons above, as you can see, and there are buttons below, but the band around the waist is buttonless, and there's no button-hole, either. Even if it were fashionable to have a poofy gap at your waistline, having a big hole on my where cold air can go directly to my midriff isn't what I'm looking for in a winter coat... I was really sad; it would have been super cute otherwise.
this coat is so cute. i just tried it on at a little boutique(size small), it runs small through the chest. i have a very small frame and it was pretty tight, but yet the sleeves were very long. but nothing a tailor couldn't fix. it really is a beautiful coat, but i would suggest a size up if you wan to layer.
