Anastasia Coat
Despite scientific evidence proving the death of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova, the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, rumors about her possible survival still circulate in popular culture. You just might be mistaken for the Grand Duchess herself when you slip into this full-length wool coat! Swathed in its regal drape and pitch-black color, you'll cut a striking silhouette against the St. Petersburg snow. Princess seams and its hood, trimmed with faux fur, exude imperial elegance, while functional elements like front patch pockets and toggles will keep you warm even in the coldest of Russian winters. This coat is even more beautiful in person!! I do agree though, that it is a close fit, so go a size up if you plan on layering. As far as warmth, I live in Ottawa (Canada), and it really doesn't do well against -5 C (20ish F degree) weather. But it looks absolutely stunning!
This coat does look cute, but it is not as soft and cozy as I imagined it would be. It is more like a stiff wool peacoat with a fur trim. It does however have a purple satin lining which looks luxurious. Also, the front of the coat has only 3 toggle closures and when on, looks like it should have a forth. In addition to the toggles are hidden hooks that keep the coast closed, but I would definitely order a size up or you will have a hard time getting the coat to stay closed (especially if you are wearing a sweater). On the warm scale, I would say this coat is what I call "fashionably warm", meaning it will get you to your destination assuming there is not too much outdoor time involved and it is above 25 F degrees.
Gorgeous coat, really. Not super heavy, but seems pretty warm, though like the other reviewer, I haven't worn it out yet as it hasn't been that cold. I have, however, worn it around the house because it's that beautiful :) Another hit for Mod Cloth, no surprise there!
