My Roaring Twenties Dress
The 20’s were a roaring time any way you look at it. Carousing, underground clubs, bootleg liquor, vivacious vixens, and no, we're not talking about the Jazz Age! The next time you’re getting dolled up for a big night out, slip into this sumptuous, flapper-inspired frock. With four tiers of fringe on a fitted skirt, a sweetheart neckline, lightly padded bust, capped sleeves, and a sheer, see-through back, it’ll provide you with serious vamp appeal. Pair with some hot red lipstick, dark eyeliner, and dangerously pointy pumps, and you’ll be ready to Charleston the night away.

I got this dress to wear to a prohibition-themed party. I wanted something a little different than the typical "flapper dress." This fits the bill - a modern take on the flapper. It's super cute, and not too costume-y, so I'll be able to wear it out. The padded bust feature is nice, because you don't have to worry about a bra with the sheer back. I had the same experience as the other reviewer . . . this dress runs SMALL, especially in the bust. I'm a standard 0-2, so I didn't even think to check the measurements before I ordered the small. I had to exchange for a medium.
Unfortunately, I have to give this a not so nice review. I was very excited for this dress to come and was going to wear it as a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding. The stitching in the bust, where the black fabric meets in the middle was very sloppy and created an unflattering drooping of the fabric (obviously poorly manufactured) and the zipper broke the 2nd time I tried it on, and the fabric on some of the seems was fraying already. I think paying $75 for a dress should mean that it has a certain element of quality and I'm sorry to say this isn't it.
We're sorry to hear about the issues with your new ModCloth dress. I'll email you with a few options.
Let me first say that this is an extremely cute dress. It's well made, and the fabric is thick with a nice lining. The sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves are adorable and super flattering. I'm planning on pairing it with a multiple strand pearl necklace, tights and heels and wearing it to my company's holiday party... so for the warnings. This dress runs small. In MOST modcloth brands, I wear a medium, and there is usually a little wiggle room. I ordered the typical medium and the neckline didn't sit right, the sleeves cut into my (admittedly not perfectly skinny) arms, and I could zip it, but was a little afraid of breaking said zipper. I sent it back and ordered the large, and it fits almost perfectly. Also, it is much shorter than it appears on the site. It's not indecent by any means (and I'm also super tall), but just be forewarned that it comes to midthigh. Regardless, it is a super cute dress, and I'm definitely going to keep it.
