As a child, I adored being read to from my thick anthology of Beatrix Potter's stories. Now, as an adult, I love reading about her life. When Beatrix was young, her parents discouraged education, but during visits to England's Lake District, Beatrix pursued her passions, observing and painting the countryside's flora and fauna. When she was older, her parents expected her to marry into her social class, but she instead sought out publication for a children's story she had written and illustrated. Beatrix became an astoundingly successful, financially independent author, and fell in love with and became engaged to her publisher, a man her parents did not deem worthy. In subsequent years, Beatrix published 22 more books and used much of the money she made in royalties for conservationist efforts, buying 4,000 acres of land that is now the Lake District National Park. This dress by Yumi, a designer based out of the UK, immediately recalls one of my favorite Potter stories, "The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor's Garden," in which a curious young Peter rabbit defies his mother's warnings to foray into Mr. McGregor's garden. Composed of a sleeveless, diaphanous, cream colored bodice with a double ruffle bib and three iridescent buttons engraved with flowers, and a sage green skirt printed with polka dots and tiny bunnies with burgundy bundles packed onto their backs, this fully lined frock boasts a lovely belt whose buckle is adorned with two, cream colored cabbage roses. When winter turns the corner to spring and the world turns from grey to green, I will celebrate spring by slipping into this dress, adding a pair of cream colored pumps, ladylike gloves, and a vintage-inspired clutch! -Jennifer, Fashion Writer

I am very disappointed with this dress. The belt is not off white, but a puce color which doesn't even match the dress. The waist is SO tight even when it's hugging the skinniest part of my body, I still look like I'm pregnant (and I am extremely petite). The worst part about it is the hem...it looks like a fashion student sewed it with a 20$ sewing machine. It is SO obviously uneven and cheap looking. I will be returning this immediately :(

This dress is wonderful! It's short without being too showy, and goes especially well with a cute little pair of bloomers. The light, airy fabric is perfect for spring and has the right amount of flow and cling. The only downside is that the belt isn't the best quality - the roses easily fall off and it's a bit too big. But the dress is so amazingly perfect and full of spring daydreaming of frolics in the park that it doesn't matter!

Both flowers on the belt had ALREADY fallen off when I got the dress. Other than that,it fits me just fine as I am only 5'2, but tall people will definitely have some struggles with the high waist and short length of the dress. Right now I am struggling: the dress is not worth the money; no question about it. However, it is an extremely sweet article of clothing. For anyone else having troubles with the flowers, I find that taping them on with clear packing tape will keep them on long enough for you to get an idea of what it looks like all put together. I also imagine that with some quality glue they could be stuck on fairly easily. That being said, if just one falls off in public and you don't notice then the belt is useless.
