This dress is likely to be flattering on girls with boyish figures and I would only recommend it to them. For the rest of us with curves I think it's likely to be very dissappointing. Most of what I get from Modcloth is excellent, but the way this dress is cut is not flattering to the average female body. Meaning any body with hips. I'm usually between a size 0 & size 4 depending on the brand/style. I have a 25 waist/ (37 hips at the widest point including the butt). So I"m not big at all. I got the size medium based on the bust measurements. When I tried it on it was a bit too tight in the hips and the skirt was too short. While the waist was WAY too big and excess part of the belt was flopping from being too long. The chest was a tad big on me as well, but almost right. So there was alot of craziness in the measurements that I'm not used to when purchasing clothing. There was one other dress I had this same problem with and found that it was made by the same brand- TCEC is the name. So it's not Modcloth of coarse (they are AWESOME!!) but this brand who made this dress (and one other on here that I know of) and appears to have no clue. Unless the fabric has alot of stretch most companies understand that there should be a few inches difference between the small of a woman's waist and the size of her hips. I don't know who at this company thinks women have bodies that are straight up and down or why they insist on designing their dresses in such a way that the waist bust and hips are all almost the same measurements. (unlike how it looks on the maniquin.) I can't get a smaller size because the bottom portion won't fit and I can't get a larger size because the medium is already just HUGE on my waist. The good thing is that I now know not to buy this brand anymore and that Modcloth makes exchanges easy so I can get another dress I've had my eye on!

This dress is beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fabric, because with a satin, you never know. It's a nice structured fabric, and I was heartbroken when I couldn't get it on over my hips. The previous reviewer is right that it definitely won't fit anyone with curves. I hope that this beautiful dress can find a home with the right person, because it's so pretty and after ordering 3 dresses and having none of them fit, this was the one that hurt the most to send back. I'm giving it 3 stars because it's so beautiful, but it just won't fit anyone who is shaped like me. (That's busty and only moderately hippy.)
