Considering my hatred of ironing, I am shocked that I still proclaim my love for this dress! The buttons are off-center, which does make it look more like a trench-coat. If you look really closely at the pictures, you can see that they have the dress pulled to the side on the mannequin; you can see the top button is a bit off-center. If you think this will bother you, do NOT buy this dress, because pulling the buttons to the center makes the pockets misalign. The details are great (back flap with button, ruffles on pocket, waist tie). The fabric is just thin enough to be a good summer weight without being see-through. I would categorize it as a "crisp" cotton, if that helps anyone. The size was great as long as I wear it with the tie or a belt. I ordered a large (bust 39.75", waist 33.25", hips 40.75") and have plenty of room but not so much that it looks like a tent. The collar actually stands up a bit in the back, which is adorable now, but may need starching after a wash. Maybe I won't love this dress as much after having to iron or steam it a few times, but for now I'm in love!
This dress is really cute and very comfortable, and fit me perfectly (for reference-- 5'3'', wears a size 8, ordered a large). For some odd reason, the buttons were off-center (which I actually thought was intentional until I looked at the picture again), but it doesn't bother me-- it looks even more trenchcoat-like that way. I will also note that the buttons do not go all the way down the dress--nothing that wearing a slip or something won't fix if you are concerned about revealing something by accident. Also, the ruffle detailing is even better in person-- it really makes the dress.
I wasn't impressed with the dress when I put it on, plus it was too small in the top for me. However, I am busty. I figured going a size up would help but it didn't. I will be returning the dress =/
