Looking at it online, I loved this dress. I was so excited when I ordered it; however, when it arrived, I was shocked at how large it was. I'm 5'0", 125lbs and I ordered a Small because of the other reviews (My other ModCloth dresses are Mediums)... I felt like I was wearing a sack when I put it on. Even with the drawstring, it looked awkwardly large and I was really disappointed. I printed out my return label tonight because there's no way I'd be able to wear it. Maybe if a size XS was offered I would have exchanged it to see if a size smaller was better, but I have to say I was really disappointed with the sizing. On the other hand, the material is great and the colors really pop. I loved the dress, so my rating has nothing to do with the overall quality. My computer wouldn't let me change the star ratings - I give it a 3/5.
This is a lovely dress! The tie-waist makes it very versatile. I am usually a medium, but I ordered a small, and I'm glad I did. On me, it fits with the tie right under my bust, but the top still remains loose and flowy (but not too much so) and tying it that high gives it a really cute babydoll shape. The top is super flattering - beautiful neckline, and the sleeves hang kind of loose at the stop, which is great if your don't absolutely love your arms. Tied under the bust, it falls close enough to the body to not feel like a muumuu, but is loose enough to be forgiving. And it is shorter than it looks in the photo, so it's good for showing off a little leg. The pattern is lovely too - bolder and brighter than it is in the picture.
I just got a job at an art gallery and so stepped up my wardrobe with ModCloth. I loved this dress at first sight, and out of the box I did like the color spectrum and vibrancy. However, it was HUGE! I could sinch it only so much with the draw string and was left with a dangling tie and a billowy top. My bra showed no matter how I tried to situate it. Sigh....had to return it. (I'm 5', 105 lbs, A small was way too big)
