I just got this skirt in the mail and can already tell it is going to be one of my most-worn pieces. It is so versatile. The fabric is more substantial than I thought, sort of a heavy cotton, which is good because it seems like it will make the skirt hold its shape better than a lighter fabric would. The fabric also has a slight black pinstripe on top of the black color that you can only see when you get very close to it, but it is a nice touch. I am normally a size 4, 27/28 waist and I got this in a S. It fits just a touch big in the waist, but once I tuck a shirt in it should be perfect. Great shape, hugs your curves in the right place, hits the waist in the perfect spot. Much better deal than other black pencil skirts Ive seen.
I have been looking for a nice high-waist pencil skirt for a while, but it's hard to find one that fits a more petite frame. Generally, I find that the waist is too large even if the rest of the skirt fits well, and often the waist is neither high nor low, but rather in that awkward middle range that looks good with nothing. This skirt, however, is a perfect fit. It sits right at my true waist, making it easy for me to tuck shirts into, and it is a snug fit in the waist while pleasingly body-skimming in the skirt. It hits right above my knee, so it's a flattering but still professional look. Also, it's well made. I've looked at much pricier skirts that were of a less solid construction and made of synthetic fibers. This beauty is 100% cotton and quite sturdy. I am 5'5" and about 115 lbs; I ordered the XS and it's a good fit: snug, but not tight. Also, let me just say that ModCloth is amazing; I ordered the skirt on Tuesday afternoon and it came on Thursday morning. Awesome.
