While the design of this dress is beautiful, I was really displeased when it arrived. First, if you look at the picture, the clear sequins go all the way up to the waist line. On mine there was a noticeable strip missing. In addition, there were thread pulls and knots on the outside of the dress as if a sewing machine had knotted the thread somewhere and started braiding on the outside. There were also smaller places where a stripe of vertical sequins were missing or falling off. And finally, the dress came completely un-hemmed with a ragged edge that looked like it might have been torn or cut badly with blunt scissors. This dress is too expensive for the kind of workmanship that went into it.

I finally was able to get this dress because it was on sale as part of the ModPink sale, and because I've been eyeing it forever, now! First things first: it fits pretty much exact to the measurements that Modcloth listed. If you have accurate measurements of yourself and use them to compare, you should have no problem. That said, if you have long legs and any amount of height (me, 5'6" and about 2/3 leg, no joke), the dress will probably seem awful short. 33.5" is not a lot of fabric, ladies! I'll also note that the sequins can be shoddily attached in some places. I got lucky, no disasters on my garment, but there is a place on my dress where the end of the fishing-wire-like thread that the sequins are threaded on came apart from the dress, and so I lost a couple (say 3 or 4) sequins before I caught it. I just burned/melted the end of the "thread" so that no more sequins would come off, but I recommend keeping an eye out for that sort of thing because missing sequins are kind of obvious, given the dress and the pattern. I also was surprised that the gradient in colors in the sequins is not as obvious on the dress as it is in the picture, but I imagine that taking pictures in this dress would result in the same sort of beautiful, rainbow-y effect, and the colors are pretty and feminine no matter what. Fit-wise, the dress looks pretty gorgeous, on. I think the most flattering aspect of the dress is the bust--it has a slight scoop neck that hits just at the swell of the breasts, pretty much, which will make any small or average-chested lady (like myself) feel chestacular. It's uber-flattering. I imagine those with a fuller chest may experience a little of the pregnancy-empire effect in this dress, because the fabric is sort of a polyester-jersey-cotton type of thing, and the bust-line/waist is not absolute. In addition, the cap sleeves look good on just about anyone--those with small shoulders will probably achieve a dainty, not-quite-short-sleeved effect, and those with wide shoulders like myself get the benefit of the cap sleeves not being restricting, as they don't actually go over the shoulder. The low scoop in the back helps, too--freedom to move and also shows off a little bit of the hollow of your back (so sexy!). Finally, don't shy away from the dress just because it's white! The dress is lined completely on the bottom, and the fabric is pretty thick even up top. I know this is a long review, but trust me--buy this dress! You won't regret it. (Besides, even if you did, Modcloth would help you fix that, too!)
I am utterly disappointed! I love this dress so much, and when I received my dress today, I thought I was all set and ready for my trip, until I noticed that there are sequins missing on the back of the dress. Also, one of the inside hanging straps was shredded and hanging from the dress. I am totally torn, because I really, need this dress for a very special trip, next friday. I don't know what to do, should I just settle, or exchange it, risking not having it at all for my trip???????????????????? Bummer!
It sounds like you received a defective item and we would love to help! I'll send you an email with more information.
