This dress is just as beautiful as the picture, although the color is a little deeper in real life. The dress fit me like a glove and hits me (5' 5") a little lower than mid-calf. It's especially twirlly and light, which makes it fun and perfect for a dance. It even came with two straps (very thin) that you can sew on if the strapless aspect was an issue for you. All in all I would definetly reccomend this dress, I love it!
When I ordered this dress, I made sure to double check my sizes (as always). In fact, the waist size for the one I originally ordered was a half inch smaller than my actual waist size; I figured with the stretch it would fit perfect, right? Wrong! When this beautiful dress came in, it was nearly 3 sizes too big and it actually fell off of me. Thankfully, ModCloth was great about the whole thing. The return process (my first since I started shopping here nearly a year ago) went very smoothly. I received a very friendly email response to my questions about returns, and I exchanged the dress for one two sizes smaller (which I was positive would not fit because it was 3 inches smaller than my actual waist size). When the second dress came in, it fit absolutely perfect - it was just snug enough to stay on, without looking tight. That said, this dress is stunningly gorgeous. I feel that the brooch gives it an extra sparkle...from a distance you can't tell anything about it except that it's oblong and dazzling. The fabric is swishy and fun. I can't wait to wear this one, as I actually ordered it for a Halloween costume party.
Very beautiful dress. My only criticism is that the dress appears to be a little darker than the picture would have you believe - still a beautiful color though! The dress does run a little larger, so take that into consideration. The dress does come with straps, however, you have to sew them in and take them out yourself (which I personally do not like - why should I have to sew in my own straps?! Other dresses I have purchased have a snap of some sort of connector for the straps so that they are easily removable - you would have to cut these straps out to remove them).
