I also bought this dress to wear on my birthday. The fit too big in the bust, I'm a 36C (and usually a size 8 or 10). I bought the medium and top is a bit too big for me. I was prepared to LOVE this dress but its a bit to poofy for my tastes, maybe if the black "under skirt" fit more like a pencil skirt vs the poofy fit it currently has. I'm unsure if i want to return the dress or get it altered to suit my tastes... we'll see. :(
The dress is a little different than the picture. I agree... it feels cheap, and not worth the price. Also, the scrunched waist is uneven (longer on one side). Gonna have to send back.
I REALLY wanted to love this dress and wanted to wear it for a wedding in two weeks. Since it seemed i was in between sizes I ordered both a small and medium to see which would fit best. For reference, I am about 5'1, 120 lbs, 28 in waist and wear a 32dd. The small was the perfect length (a little above the knee) and fit well and felt secure in the bust. however around the waist it was a bit snug; it fit OK but not the most comfortable when zipped up. The zipper seems to be faulty because at one point along the zipper it gets stuck even when i don't have it on. Also when i was trying it on i felt something poke me in the back and it was the boning that had come out through the fabric. The medium zipped up more easily and comfortably around the torso but it looks to be too large in the best and feels like i would have to pull up the top all night. also the length isn't as flattering as the small because of the tail in the back so it looks like it's wearing me instead of the other way around. One of the threads giving the bodice it's origami shape is loose, making the bodice uneven. I expected much more from this dress. For $80+, the quality is disappointing due to the loose threading, weak zipper, and boning tearing the fabric. I will be returning the dresses, but might give the dress another chance by getting a small w/o any flaws because i can't find any other suitable dresses!
We're sorry to hear about the quality issues on your new ModCloth dress. I'll send an email with a few options.
