This dress is cute but I'm not completely happy with it overall. First, it is way too short. I am 5'6 and it's tiny. I don't understand why so many places seem to make their dresses for tiny people or tawdry ones. It takes away from the look of the dress- it's supposed to be sweet, and a few extra inches in length would help. Secondly, it poofs too much away from the body around the hips. Not flattering on most people, I'd imagine. It's sort of like a bubble skirt on the bottom, which is trendy but I like more classic. The fit is small. I've heard complaints that modcloth quality leaves much to be desired, but I found this dress to be pretty well-made. Still, for the above reasons, I'm not sure I want to keep it.
This is a stunning dress. The fabric is beautiful and high quality. Only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is the cut is small and as with many of the brands Modcloth sells it is too short. A dress like this worn in the 50's would not be above the knee. As with many of the "vintage" look dresses sold by Modcloth many are simply too short. I can see a mod style dress being shorter but not dresses styled with a 40s or a 50s look. Anyway it is a lovely dress but I will have to wear a longer petticoat under it to bring the length down.
This is a gorgeous dress. As the other reviewers say, it is a bit short, but not scandalously so - I'm 5'7" and it came to probably 2-4 inches above my knees. Not true to the 50's, but not too short to wear today. It fits me perfectly but I'm fairly busty - 34D, 27-inch waist. I got a medium and it's very flattering. I checked the measurements against another dress that I own before I ordered it, so I advise anyone who's concerned about sizing to do the same. The fabric feels marvelous and the zipper seems to be good quality. One thing to keep in mind is that, in the photo, the band in the middle of the dress appears off-white while the rest is a beige-gray - it's actually all one color, a gray-silver. It's still very pretty, but not quite the same as it looks on here.
