As soon as you open this book and read, "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains," you know this isn't your grandma's Jane Austen. Written with all the eloquence of a Victorian novel, Seth Grahame-Smith has added a zombie twist to the classic tale. Perfect for boyfriends and literature lovers alike, this book is sure to become a classic classic. We can't wait for the movie!
Composition
Paperback, 319 pages. Black and white.

As soon as I saw this, I knew I had to have it. An Elizabeth Bennet who is not only a fastidious reader with fine eyes, but also a slayer of zombies? How could I say no? Within the first page I was hooked, as Mrs. Bennet badgered her husband about visiting Mr. Bingley, but instead of reading, Mr. Bennet was more interested in cleaning his muskets and training his girls to slay the undead. I was constantly amused since a great deal of the original language remained the same, yet was infused with zombies, the warrior code, and even ninjas. If you can look past the fact that a classic piece of literature was completely renovated, this novel will have you giggling while still enjoying the romance between Elizabeth & Darcy.
I will give it an A for effort and creativity but once you get past the novelty of there being zombies in the book, it's a Middle School read with little to no great zombie action. It was Pride & Predjudice with a peppering of zombies. Cute bookshelf appeal but it ends there.
One of the best books I have ever read! At first it's a little hard to get into, but in the end you will love this version even if you hate the original.
