Rainbow Road Wedge
The conductor announces the next stop, and you sprint to the door of the rail car, pulling the 'stop requested' cord on your way. Stepping out on the street in your absolute blue peep toes, the sunlight beams on your shoes' butterfly shaped bows, bringing out their gleaming electric rouge hue. As you strut down the sidewalk, onlookers and their prancing dogs catch a glimpse of the colorful resin wedge, shining with a prismatic array of icy teal tones at the sole and tart sweetheart reds at the heel. The gold glitter detailing of these heels gives them a truly magical look! Worn with a simple LBD and black leggings, these leather Poetic License shoes will prove that you know just how to add a whimsical touch of color to your sophisticated look. Nothing will rain on your parade in these polychromatic wonders!

The shoe does run large. I don't mind as my right foot is slightly larger than my left due to an old foot injury. Usually, shoes run tighter on my right foot, but these shoes are perfect. I would say the shoe does runs a half size large. Anyways, these shoes are great. Very unusual, cute, and totally reminiscent of Rainbow Brite as was mentioned below. There is a what appears to be a line that runs vertical down the heel, but I saw this in one of the pictures above. It's not really a line, but the heel that bears the weight which is sectioned off from the rest of the wedge (in other words, if you imagine removing the part of the shoe that makes it a wedge, you're left with the high heel of the shoe). I don't know if I'm explaining this right, but if you look at the last picture you will see what I mean. In any case, these shoes fit comfortably and I love the leather. I don't think the bow looks cheap (I don't think anything on this shoe looks cheap), but your mileage may vary. I'm going to wear them with a yellow, vintage turban hat I also got from Modcloth and brighten up everyone's day. ;-)
I was surprised at how the others reviews say the shoes run large- my 8.5s fit very well. The shoes are certainly very cool and very unusual, which is partly why I bought them. (And they totally reminded me of Rainbow Brite, which is the main reason why I bought them). And I'll keep them because I love unusual shoes like these, but I don't LOVE love them, probably because of the material of the shoe- I thought they looked satin, but they are actually leather- and the bow, which looks cheap. There is also a line down the center of each color-layer in the heel that I didn't notice in the picture.
Butterfly Love (Rainbow Wedge) was actually my first purchase from Modcloth, but it came two days after I left for a month’s work overseas (it arrived in time and very fast, though). So today as I returned back to town, I immediately grabbed the package, mesmerized by the super cute shoe box, and was captivated by the wedges. Well, it took me like about 15 minutes to examine them from every angle and slipping my feet gingerly into the shoes before I came to the conclusion that I loved it! I took the only size left at that time; 7.5 (EU 38) after bugging Modcloth about the insole length (9.5”), and considering that the shoes were made of leather, hence could be stretched easily. I didn’t regret ‘pestering’ Modcloth: the shoes were true to size. My left foot slipped comfortably into the left pair. Yet the right foot, being half a size bigger than the left one, was a bit crammed into the right pair. Doesn’t matter. I can still walk pretty comfortably in them. Here’s a hint for further shoe purchase: ask Modcloth the exact insole length (and perhaps width of ball of foot). Better, Modcloth should be able to provide those actual measurements, taken after actually measuring each size, hence reducing the necessity of a return. Now the left pair is being broken with my wooden shoe stretcher (what a good investment!) while the right pair is shivering inside my fridge with a pack of water-filled sandwich bag crammed into it. Since these are leather shoes, the right pair should be half a size larger in 24 hours, and the left one should be pretty comfortable to wear in the (Australian) morning. Also, I’ve never had any leather shoes before, and hence was not a fan of them. But the Rainbow Wedge proves that leather shoes can be beautiful as well, and I actually grew fond of the leathery smell. I just have to stop thinking about the poor animal sacrificed for the shoes for a while… I also tried the shoes with my new LBD (very similar to the new Ice Wine Dress today) and the Tiers of Pearls Necklace and they fit like a dream! Five stars, hand down. One more thing before I shut up. I originally thought that my electric blue was not as deep as the one displayed on the web, but it might be because of my screen. Also, when I look at the shoes from a distance (like a meter or so), it does look similar to the colour on the screen. Definitely a gorgeous pair of shoes! Finally, a purchase I truly love. Thanks Modcloth!
