Who are you? I'm Emily and I'm 22 years old. I was born in Pennsylvania, currently live in Pittsburgh, and would only leave it for Portland, Oregon. I have my BA in Arts Management with a focus in art history. What do you do at ModCloth? I am the Merchandise Manager and Operations Director at ModCloth. It's my job, with the help of the amazing team leaders, to prepare all merchandise for its debut on the site. I write Emily's Etsy Posts for the blog featuring my favorite finds and I oversee product photography. I am a perfectionist and like to boss people around with my tiny voice. What do you like about working at ModCloth? My favorite things about ModCloth are the people and the products! My heart would break if I didn't get to see these people everyday. And the products? It's like having a birthday every day. What are your other interests & hobbies? I am a vegan, crafter, and an artist at heart. I originally went to school for fine arts but have channeled that energy into decorating and crafting. I like to know how to do just about everything so I'm always learning. I love 19th and 20th century period films and-don't tell my boyfriend-but I have an unhealthy obsession with James McAvoy. Are you a Winston or a Blue? I think I'm a Blue. I'm less outgoing than Winston and can be wary of new people but am very loyal and kind to friends. What else would you like to tell our customers about yourself? I am afraid of mascots and anyone in a large foam-based costume. It all started when the Kool-Aid man chased me through a grocery store when I was little and it has only gotten worse since then. Theme parks, sporting events, and Halloween are all more trouble than they're worth. Describe your sense of style? My sense of style is relatively safe and classic. As a rule, I don't show my upper arms and I love a good cardigan. If I could share the wardrobe of the cast of Mad Men, I'd be set. I could even embrace a good pointy bra. Do you have any nicknames? I've never been given too many nicknames and the only one that has ever stuck was "moshpotato." I started my own online business with this name and sold handmade bags and wallets. It's a nickname from my tougher days when I was into punk shows and bruises. If you met me now, you'd never believe it. | |
