Portraits of the Past Tunic

The boxes have been stacked high in your closet for years - untouched and sealed with masking tape that is yellowing at the edges. You need to make room for more clothes though, so you pull them down, brush the thick layer of dust off their lids, and peek inside. You are astonished to find the boxes filled to the brim with old family photographs. As you peer at the faces more closely, you realize that you are looking at your own mother, circa 1970, clad in a tunic just like the one you are wearing! From details such as the plaid print in shades of peach, burgundy, blue, and ecru, to the Eton collar, to the tabs and button up front, the resemblance is striking. The tunic you are wearing does have some modern elements though - the sleek side pockets provide space to hold treasures, while the waist tie at the back gently cinches the shirt, providing you with a chic silhouette. You sift through your findings, and begin to notice how much you look now like your mother did then. You hope that, just as you have followed in your mother's fashion footsteps, you will grow up to become as wonderful a woman as she is now (minus a few annoying tendencies). Pair with skinny jeans, tall boots, and a chic headband for an ensemble that embraces both modern and vintage sensibilities.
