Dining in Prague Plate Set

These are the plates that would be used in the lounge at the Praha Hotel, the imaginary auberge starring in a made up TV show of the same name. I dreamt up this sitcom while staying in a sleepy Prague hotel a few years ago. One of my nights there, I was too exhausted to go out and explore, so I stayed in to drink vodka tonics and do some journal writing at the bar which, by the way, had not left the 1970s. In the show, a young woman, for mysterious reasons, stays indefinitely at a Prague hotel observing the transients and consistently failing to befriend the stoic bartender. She orders pork loin and dumplings, presented to her on these delightful plates, adorned by individual matryoshkas (very popular trinkets in Prague). Each dinner would be on a different colored plate than the night before - the blue with Prussian horses, the green with a bird and squirrel, the rouge with a dear couple in a tree, and finally the Velvet Revolution purple with a thistle print. While I don't really like pork loin, I would take these nesting doll plates home and dine on dumplings with that girl, if only in my mind. -Angela, Fashion Writer
