Wassailing Top
Wassailing, or the tradition of going door-to-door in exchange for food and drink, has its origins in the middle ages, when peasants approached their feudal lord and sang for a charitable gift of wassail (mulled mead or cider), and sops (sugar, ale, ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon heated and topped with toast). This long-sleeved, cider-hued blouse is just the garment to wear when you want to spread cheer and stay toasty on a chilly winter evening. Its elegant cowl collar is adorned with statement-making, rounded brass buttons, and its banded hem and sleeves lend the flowy material a lightly tailored shape. Pair this piece with a short, velvety skirt, thick, opaque tights, and ankle-skimming booties, warm up your vocal chords, and no house will be able to refuse you a wee glass of wassail!
