I love the romance of riding the rails. Whenever possible, I prefer to travel by train. I find myself mesmerized by the pastoral landscape as it passes by my window seat, and I feel whisked back in time as I imagine all the people who’ve stepped onto the very same platform decades ago, climbing aboard with their steamer trunks, double-breasted raincoats, and handkerchiefs in hand to wave ‘bon voyage’ to their loved ones. Train rides are one of the lengthier ways to go, but I never seem to notice the time it takes.  If I feel restless, I stretch out and wander into the dining car, where I order a coffee, open a library book, and enjoy my voyeuristic voyage from a new view. The next time I buy a boarding pass, I want to wear these timeless Mary Janes throughout my journey. Their cognac color, vegan faux leather material, and delicate scalloped details are straight out of a classic black and white film. When I pair these with a pencil skirt, lacey ankle socks, and a cashmere cardi, I’ll feel like a movie starlet in the leading role of a story set on a locomotive.
