The Antique Mall Necklace
When one thrifts, seeks out estate sales, and takes a detour on any given long drive to visit an antique mall as a hobby, one develops a discriminating taste. It's an entirely different world of retail, one consisting, for the majority of the time, of little organization, much determination, and patience! Surrounded by far too many wants, more often than not, I cannot get them all, and end up leaving something behind that just sticks in my head! This statement necklace reminds me of a piece whose beauty still has me reminiscing - a gallantly gorgeous, single stranded, off-white rosette pearl collarbone adornment that I passed up in an antique mall somewhere between point A (Pittsburgh, PA) and point B (Washington D.C.). However, when I set my sights on this statement piece, everything began coming up roses-ettes! The center of each flower in this modern masterpiece is a dainty rose that is a dead ringer of that stunning strand of beads I left behind. But, this neckpiece presents so much more! Around each mini rosebud are drop-shaped faceted beads, interlinked from one petal to the next to create a garden of glamour around your neck. Each of these flowers are brought together by a single strand of smooth-surfaced pearl-shaped beads, and an adjustable silver chain. And, if this was mine, I would love to drape it over top of my outfit right now, a layered chiffon, sandy brown and blue floral dress, grey sparkling striped tights, and calf-length caramel boots, for the perfect addition of antique adornment! -Julie, Fashion Writer
