Growing up in rural Minnesota meant the coming of the northern lights was a bigger deal than the latest comic book-inspired blockbuster. I remember a few fall nights when my parents would rouse my siblings and me near midnight and drive us to a soccer field in the country so we could watch those shimmering streaks of electrified green, pink, and purple slide across the night sky, just like they do on this darling shirt.
