You’re Working Wonders Dress

Each time I receive an order from Modcloth, I think to myself, "I really need to advance my sewing skills!" Nothing against Modcloth, by any means, as the customer service is superb, and the variety & selection of items they offer is hard to match. As far as this dress goes, it is very cute and arrived as pictured, with a flattering silhouette. The fit is good everywhere, except the sleeve openings- I can't raise my arms up without it pinching. This is not usually a problem because most people don't walk around with their arms in the air, but if you're reaching for an item on a shelf, it might be slightly difficult. Other than that, the fit was true to size. I rated the quality as "okay" because the zipper is quite difficult to maneuver, especially coupled with the arm issue. At least my hubby is always happy to oblige when I need help undressing. :) It also arrived with some excess threads that needed trimming and the polyester liner feels cheap & flimsy. I had absolutely no issues with the length, especially being 5'2." The belt, as cute as it is with the dress is a little floppy and when I tighten it to fit my waist, it is not long enough to thread through the belt loop, but long enough to look awkward hanging, so I nixed it and used a belt with cognac accents to match my cognac boots I wore with it, along with creamy textured tights & and an orange cardi. The compliments I got made it worth keeping the dress in spite of its flaws. Overall, I really do like it.

I love this dress so much! It is professional looking, and it is a bit structured. The fabric is a nice weight, and the dress is fully lined. It is totally worth its retail price. I can see how some taller girls would dislike this dress, but since I am so short, it works out beautifully on me. I wore this dress with the Tights for Every Occasion in Olive and a pair of Irregular Choice shoes (can't remember the name of them).

I bought this dress, hoping to wear it professionally. However, the belt is a bit too high on the waist and makes the dress look too cutesy and young. The length I think would be okay if the waist was lower, but it seems too short combined with the high waist. I felt like I was wearing something out of a Shirley Temple film. It might be a cute dress if you're going for cute and don't want to wear it to work. But unfortunately I'll be returning it. It is pretty true to size. I usually order a M from ModCloth and the M fit right.
