Windy City Dress in Forest

This is one of my favorite ModCloth purchases! I’ve had my eye on this dress since I saw it in dark blue, but when I saw it in green, I was sold. The color of the dress is a beautiful forest green that shimmers in the light. The dress falls beautifully over curves, and this dress really is just as versatile as everyone says it is. I can see myself throwing a jacket over this dress, putting on some teardrop earrings and heading out to work in closed-toe heels. I am also considering wearing it to my friend’s rehearsal dinner! As for the fit, I debated between getting the small or the medium, and while I would still like to see how the small fits, I’m pleased with the medium. I’m always concerned about how skirts will fall over my hips, so when in doubt I opt for the larger size. In this case the skirt falls perfectly. As other reviewers noted for the Windy City dress in blue, the top is loose, even for a medium. The waist is fine but could also go in a bit. I noticed that the waist hits a bit higher, almost an empire waist. The overall fit is very figure flattering. I will likely take this to my tailor to be taken in later, but it’s not an immediate need. As a disclaimer I must say that I am rather petite on top as compared to the rest of me. Therefore, tailoring is just par for the course if I want a garment to fit well. Overall, I love this dress! Great buy! P.S. Sorry for the low quality photos. Awesome dress! My cousin and I got matching dresses for Christmas, (Burgundy for her, and Forest for me), and this one worked well on both of us! It is made of really lovely fabric, and has a silky built in slip. The buttons at the neck require some assistance, but otherwise it is a beautiful and comfortable dress, that can go from school/work to a fancy dinner.

Love the look of the dress. It really is beautiful. The color is gorgeous, and my husband loves it on me! My ONLY issue is that the waist is higher than I expected it to be. It's more of a empire waist on me. But it fits perfectly, as far as fit goes. I normally have issues with tops (I have very broad shoulders) so I ordered a 2X. I'm about a 14 in jean sizes but an 18 in tops, because of my shoulders and it fits very well. It is a beautiful dress.
