There's an Applique for That Dress

I'm disappointed with this dress for several reasons. I bought an XL as that's the size I usually wear. First, it is unnecessarily tight around the hips area, and the material is quite thin so it shows off every lump and bump (especially love handles and a belly). The picture shows this dress to have an empire waist, but the elastic which should sit directly under the bust falls about 3 inches too low. If I pull it up so it sits in the right place the top part of the dress has excess material which sags and looks frumpy. The sequined applique is almost in the very middle at the front of the dress, in the pictures it looks further to the side which I would have liked the look of better. There are quite a few loose threads, especially around the applique, which I had to trim. I do love the way the sleeves fall. If I had tried this on in a store I would not have bought it, still weighing if it's worth the shipping fee to return it from Canada, or if a body shaper and some safety pins may make it manageable.

I bought this dress and it was my first purchase on Modcloth. Unfortunately I sent the dress back because it was just too tight and the material was very thin. The dress looks great in the picture but in person it does not fit. I did order a pair of leggings with the dress that were perfect but I ended up sending the dress back.

Love this, had to sew up the one side of the sequence detail though cause it was flopping.
