Scout's Honor Dress in Olive

I have a feeling that I'm going to be wearing this dress a lot! It's figure flattering and very vintage looking, but also casual and basic ... it can be worn pretty much anywhere. The color is olive, but is a little more vibrant than the typical army olive green (unfortunately the lighting in my apartment is pretty dim so the color in my photos looks much darker). The only flaw, which a lot of reviewers mentioned, is that the dress gaps between the top and second button. I'm going to sew on a snap between those two buttons though to close up that area. Otherwise it fits and looks gorgeous!

I love this dress so much. I found it through the longer lengths selection (I'm close to 6' tall) and was delighted to find that this dress stops right at my knee - just like I was hoping! Some things make it clear that the dress is meant for someone shorter - the belt hits not at my natural waist, but just under my bust, giving it the look of an empire waist. I will probably just remove the belt loops, since the sash will stay on my waist without them. Also, the top button that I would actually want to button falls above the widest part of my bust, instead of at it, like is pictured. As a result, the dress opens up across my bust, revealing quite a bit more than I would like. There is some good stretch to the fabric, though, so I'm just going to attach a snap right there to keep it closed and I don't think it will pucker. The bottom button does not fall too high. The fabric is not especially soft, but I think that's because there's a bit of spandex. My measurements are 38-30-40 and I ordered the L. It fits well and is very flattering (when I put it on, my boyfriend said "Woah!" He's a fan, too!), but I will probably not dry it, as I fear even a small amount of shrinking would make it unwearable.

This was my first purchase from Modcloth and I was so excited when the dress arrived; I had planned to wear it to a tea party that a friend was hosting. When I pulled it out of the box, I noticed that the color seemed much more green than the picture, although it matched the picture when taken into different lighting. This didn't bother me, I'm just mentioning it. Anyhow, when I put it on, I discovered that it does not precisely run true to size. I'm on the very end of the spectrum of a medium, especially in my bust, and it was just a tad bit too tight there and through my waist. So sad. =(
