Pretty in Pińata Dress

This is one of my favorite dresses. I love the bright colors and the cap sleeves, and the fit is really flattering. It's one of those dresses that is as comfy as sweats but looks way cuter. It is almost a little large on my bust, which is surprising, but it goes it nicely at the waist and compliments my hourglass figure. It shows a bit of cleavage, but I just put a tank top underneath if I want to be a bit more modest and it looks great.

This is such an adorable dress, and I lusted after it for three months before jumping on it. I had my reservations: $45 for a cotton dress seems steep, and how would this dress hold up my considerable bust? As for the price, the quality on this dress is top notch, and the teal fabric is thick and dark enough to cover up a large, fresh (and therefore colorful) tattoo on my hip. Now, when I say thick, I mean medium weight for jersey. Not that super thin stuff that's only fit to sleep in. The "sleeves" are cute, but not really sleeves, so much as straps with ruffles that give the appearance of capped sleeves. Not a problem for me. The only issue is that it is difficult to hide a bra in this dress. I wore it with a simple grey shelf bra earlier today, and had to keep pulling the dress up or the bra down. Maybe that's because I'm a medium everywhere but the chest but continue to buy mediums for the best overall fit. The good news is that I can make this dress work without a bra, because it is lined at the chest and it contains the girls enough for most occasions. This is just the sort of dress I love to find on ModCloth: casual, colorful, cotton jersey, and CUTE!

I'm 5'5" and 195 lbs., and this dress fits perfectly. It leaves enough room in the bust so that I don't feel like I'm spilling out, but it IS pretty low-cut, so if you're a busty girl who doesn't want to feel exposed, another dress might be better. For me, this dress has a cut similar to the Museum Day Trip Dress (no longer available) but it doesn't cut ridiculously low in the back, which is great, because there's no bra exposure. The ruffles on the shoulders are a little weak, and I would not want to do toe-touches in this dress, but it's perfect when I want to wear something beautiful and festive for summer barbecues or trips to the lake. I wish it would warm up outside so I could wear this now!
