In Yo' Lace Dress

I'm a huge fan of frocks with unexpected details and fashion that's frilly, yet ferocious. Which is precisely why I was drawn to this lace-tastic dream of a dress by Dahlia - an incredible indie designer from the UK. At first glance, this feminine frock seems to say, "How lovely to meet you, darling," with its lacy ivory overlay, charming cap sleeves, fitted bodice, and pretty pleated skirt. However, as I moved in to examine this gorgeous garment, its ladylike look beckoning me forward, I noticed the sheer yoke, noir lining, hidden back zip disguised by five shiny black buttons, and then - I saw the belt. With its gunmetal silver studs and grommets, this thin ebony vegan faux leather belt seemed to shout, "In yo' face! You thought this frock was just girly, but here I am, shifting your whole style perspective!" It was at that moment that I fell in love with this stylishly surprising frock.
