What could be better than a warm summer night, sporadically lit by the twinkling of stars and fireflies? As a child, I spent many joyful summer evenings at my grandparents’ house. Their backyard was grand in size and rather hilly, lined with forest. It was the perfect place for me to run around, play hide ‘n’ seek, catch fireflies in jars - and then set them free again, of course! This charming, sapphire-hued dress by Book of Deer is a delightful reminder of those times that are so close to my heart. Eilidh Ho, a designer born in Scotland and raised in Hong Kong, started the dreamy line Book of Deer with the aim of creating clothing with a discernible, fairytale-like narrative. The enchanting, glow-in-the-dark print of the jars lit up by fireflies takes me back to proudly showing my nana how many of the fascinating creatures I had caught! Alas, we all grow older, and wonderful times evolve into wonderful memories. But when I slip on this A-line dress, adorned with pleating at the waist, a V-neck, and cutout design at the hem, I am reminded of a simpler time - and can now make new, joyful memories as I watch my young son proudly run to me to show off his firefly catch of the night! - Nicole, Fashion Writer
