Deco Design Dress
I recently visited the stunning Frank Lloyd Wright house, Fallingwater. Although the constant sound of cascading water was enchanting, I was more so taken by the structure's striking lines - the jutting, cantilevered balconies, the perpendicular angles of the glass walls and sandstone floors, the circular fireplace warming pot. I couldn't get enough of those clean, confident, 1930's Art Deco, geometric-shaped motifs. That's why when I saw this dress, I fell totally in love! The bold circular pattern at the bust and hem, the elongated stripes interspersed with chevrons, and the bright salmon, ruddy orange, dark brown and deep ocean blue were all reminiscent of Wright's designs! This frock not only mirrors Wright's aesthetic, but it also reflects his affection for functionality. The super-soft material, open scoop neckline, and elasticated empire waist means that, just like Fallingwater was built to fit into the surrounding landscape, I'll be totally comfortable in a myriad of situations. I can pair it with a blazer, dark slouchy booties, and layers of gold necklaces for a retro, party-ready look, or match it to a cardi, cropped leggings and sandals for an afternoon of architectural sight-seeing. -Molly, Lead Fashion Writer
