Chandelier and Dear Dress

Technically, the dress fit well. It hit the length I expected (for me it was a little longer than mid-thigh), and it fit well through the other dimensions. The fabric is nice, and while see through if you hold it up to the light, is not sheer or thin. This dress will be going back though. The lining is separate from the dress, and because of the material each is made out of the dress tends to slide up, causing bunching and exposing the lining. The shoulder strap appears in the picture to have an angle to it, with the the top of the dress coming down at a slight angle across the chest under the arm. In reality the strap had more of a downward cut to it and the dress came straight across my chest as opposed to sweeping down (the back does follow the depicted angle). It also didn't seem to lay flat across the middle of my back and pulled funny between the side seams the back darts. The dress felt like it was trying to twist when I walked. Once I took it off I was able to see that the darts and seams aren't symmetrical across the dress (the left dart is noticeable closer to the side seam than the right dart is), and definitely are not straight relative to each other. Maybe I just got a bad dress in that respect, but based on my other issues with the shoulder and the lining I see no reason to exchange it and try my luck a second time.

I ordered this dress for a dance and I was very happy with it. It was shorter than I am generally comfortable with but I wore it with black tights so I was fine. I love the black pattern and blue is a nice shade. I was worried that the small would be too tight but because I am on the skinny side it fit me perfectly. There is a black slip on the inside that tends to ride up sometimes so I had a couple of stitches put in to hold it down. Considering this wasn't my first choice (I wanted the steel my kisses dress but it never came back in stock) I thought it turned out really well.

I love the look of this dress, but it was too small and could be better made. I had trouble with the lining bunching up which made it uncomfortable.
