Returns and Exchanges

Our Extended Holiday Returns Policy

  • All orders placed between November 1, 2011 and January 1, 2012 must be returned and received by our Fulfillment Center by February 1, 2012 in order to receive a FULL REFUND.
  • Any orders placed between November 1, 2011 and January 1, 2012 and returned and received by our Fulfillment Center between February 2-29, 2012 are eligible for FULL STORE CREDIT only.
  • Any orders placed between November 1, 2011 and January 1, 2012 and returned and received by our Fulfillment Center after February 29, 2012 are eligible for 50% STORE CREDIT only.
  • All orders placed after January 1, 2012 qualify for our regular returns policy.

Our Returns and Exchanges Policy

If you're not happy, we're not happy! At ModCloth, we aim to please, so if you're not completely pleased with your order, we'll do whatever we can to make it better!

Read our simple Returns and Exchanges Policy below, follow the steps for the type of transaction you want to make, and remember, you can always contact us with any additional order or product-related questions or issues!

  • All returns packages must be received within 30 days of the date your order shipped from us.
  • Returns are processed within 5-7 business days of package receipt.
  • Refunds can only be issued to your original payment method or in the form of store credit.
  • Shipping is non-refundable, except in cases where we have made a shipping error.
  • We only offer exchanges for the same item in a different size or color.
  • The following items are non-refundable:
    • Returns received after 30 days of the original order shipment date
    • Returns received in damaged or worn condition
    • Intimates (including the following shapewear: contouring panties, shorts, and corselets, and the following seamless items: bras, leggings, dresses, and tanks), tights, socks, bookstore, cosmetics, and final sale items
    • Shoes returned with postage stickers on the original shoebox - please place the shoebox inside a larger packing box
    • Free gifts
  • The following items are returnable for store credit only:
    • Returns received more than 30 days after the original order shipment date (late returns may also be subject to a 50% restocking fee)
    • Swimwear returned without the hygienic liner
    • Vintage items

How to Make a Return or Exchange

Making returns and exchanges is a snap! Have you read our Returns and Exchanges Policy above? Good! As long as your items are eligible for return or exchange, start off by following these easy steps:

  • 1. Include your original invoice in your package. If you misplaced it, simply go to "My Account," click on your "Order History," select the right order number, and print.
  • 2. On the front of your invoice, circle the names of the items you are returning or exchanging and fill out the Return or Exchange column:
    • Specify if you are returning or exchanging under Return Type.
    • Enter a 'Reason Code' using the options listed under Return Reason Codes.
    • If you are exchanging, indicate the new size under Exchange Size.
  • 3. Place your invoice, along with the item(s) in unworn condition and with tags attached, in a securely sealed shipping container.
  • 4. From the options below, determine the type of transaction you are making, and follow the rest of the steps.

Free Domestic Returns

Follow the steps on "How to Make a Return or Exchange," then:

  • 1. Print your free, prepaid return label here. Did we mention it was FREE?
  • 2. Affix the label to your package, and make sure there are no other shipping labels on it. Jot down the tracking number on the label so you can keep track of the delivery status.
  • 3. Send it on its way! You can return your package through the US Postal Service or FedEx.

    If you're using the US Postal service, you have the following options:

    • Take your package to a US Post Office or collection box. You can find USPS Locations here.
    • Give your package to a US Postal carrier.
    • Leave your package in your residential mailbox.

    If you're using FedEx, you have the following options:

    • Take your package to a FedEx store. This is often the fastest method. You can find FedEx Locations here.
    • Give your package to a FedEx Ground driver. Please be aware that only Ground drivers can accept returns.
    • We do not recommend leaving your package in a FedEx drop box. This often requires a signficant amount of delivery time, which could cause an additional delay in processing your return.

International Returns

To make an international return, first, make sure you’ve read our Returns and Exchanges Policy above. Please note that we do not offer international exchanges at this time. As long as your items are eligible for return, start off by following these easy steps:

  • 1. Include your original invoice in your package. If you misplaced it, simply go to "My Account," click on your "Order History," select the right order number, and print.
  • 2. On the front of your invoice, circle the names of the items you are returning and fill out the column on the right:
    • Specify that you are returning under Return Type.
    • Enter a 'Reason Code' using the options listed under Return Reason Codes.
  • 3. Place your invoice, along with the item(s) in unworn condition and with tags attached, in a securely sealed package.
  • 4. Address your package to:

  • 5. Send your package back to us via your shipping method of choice. Be sure to jot down the tracking number on the label so you can keep track of the delivery status.
  • We'll email you when we process your return!

    Free Domestic Exchanges

    If you need to exchange an item for a different size or color, we offer free 'quick' and ‘traditional’ methods of exchange. Here's the difference:

    Quick Exchange

    This is the best and fastest way to ensure you get the size or color you want before an item runs out of stock. To exchange as quickly as possible:

    • First, call Customer Care at 1-888-495-9699. We’ll place a new order immediately, charge your card for your new item, and waive shipping charges.
    • All that’s left to do is to return your original item for a full refund! Just follow the steps listed under "How to Make a Return or Exchange" and "Free Domestic Returns."

    Traditional Exchange

    This takes a little longer, so our more limited items may be gone by the time we process your request. But, if you don’t want the temporary second charge that comes with a quick exchange, this is your best option. Just follow the steps listed under "How to Make a Return or Exchange" and "Free Domestic Returns" - be sure to indicate that you are exchanging, and the new size you want.
